Author Interview: Angela R. Watts

I love interviewing authors, especially ones that I’ve befriended through Instagram. Angela R. Watts is an awesome author who everyone should follow. Buy her books here.

How did you get started writing?

I started telling stories when I was very small and couldn’t write them down–my family would write down as I narrated, then I’d go back and illustrate the stories. I continued to write as I grew up, but I didn’t finish a novella or novel till I was twelve. I haven’t stopped since, haha, and have written novels, novellas, and short stories since!

What was the inspiration behind your series, The Infidel Books

I wanted a dystopian series that closely reflected our world but if our world had been left to fade away… So often, I see people in today’s world look away from the current events because it sickens them, takes away their peace, makes them tired, the list goes on. So I wondered… If the good people stopped fighting and looked away, how far would the evil go? The inspiration for The Infidel Books came from various things, but ultimately, God pushed me to write the series and connect the dots. Without God, I was afraid to start the series. I didn’t feel adequate.
A year later since The Divided Nation was published, The Grim Alliance just launched, and I am humbled to see so many things I wrote take place in the world today. Now, it scares me if I hadn’t started the series!

Angela definitely takes on hard issues in her books, and I admire her for doing so! We need more truth speakers like her.

Besides your own books, what are your favorite YA recommendations?

I’d recommend these YA books: Every Bright And Broken Thing by Brian McBride. Beloved by Kaitlyn Krispense. Dandelion Dust by Faith Potts. The Brother’s Creed series by Joshua C. Chadd. The Lost Books by Ted Dekker. I could go on!

If you had to pick a character from any of your books to go to lunch
with, who would you pick and why?

Ohh, tough question, haha! I can’t really choose. So many of my characters deserve a nice lunch. Maybe Alex Thompson? I feel like he’s one character I wouldn’t get into a heated argument with. I think he’d be fun to chill with!

What are your future book plans?

Can you tell I’m looking for spoilers? 😉

Haha, I love spoilers, but I can’t release too much! The Infidel Books #3 is planned for 2021, though, so stay tuned! As for GOLGATHA, I can’t say a release date, but it won’t be too long. You can follow me for more updates!
