Today I’m interviewing V. Romas Burton, the author of the award-winning Heartmender series! Her books are amazing and I highly recommend them.
How long have you been writing and what are some of your writing tips?
I started writing for fun in 2015 and discovered I loved the world of story building. As for writing tips, I’d encourage aspiring authors to write the story that’s on their heart. Often times we try to alter our writing to fit what the market wants. But the market is constantly changing, so it may want what you write and doesn’t know it yet!
What inspired the Heartmender series?
I was actually working on another series when the idea of Heartmender came to me. I had perviously listened to a sermon about God giving us ideas but we just let them pass. Later that week, I had the idea for Heartmender pop into my head and I quickly wrote it down. A few weeks later, I was still thinking about it and started writing it.
What are your favorite fantasy books?
I love the Lunar Chronicles!
What’s one big takeaway from the trilogy you would like people to have?
I would love people to take away that you’ll always face trials and temptations in life. But with Christ, you’ll be able to work through and overcome them.
You announced on Instagram that you have a new book planned. Can you give us any spoilers, hints, or other information about it?
Yes! This is a new series that will highlight the lives of different Biblical heroines. And, for fun, there will be twists of different fairy tales in each book!
